How to Professionally Pressure Wash Your Deck Clean

  1. First, you should clear it of all furniture since pressure washing will damage the finish off of your furniture or damage it in other ways. Once that is done and you have every inch of your patio cleared, you are ready.
  2. Next, you will need to get your hands on a machine. These can be purchased for a few hundred dollars but if you don’t think you will need to use it very often, it will make more sense to rent one. The rental fee is inexpensive, especially if you only use it for a few hours or even a day.
  3. Make sure you use the right machine for the job. Different amounts of pressure react differently to surfaces, potentially causing damage.
  4. Make sure to protect any fixtures or anything else you don’t want to be damaged by the pressurized water or other solution.
  5. Mix any cleaning solution you might use in the machine’s detergent dispenser.
  6. Make sure to use eye protection, especially if you are using bleach or other chemicals.
  7. Connect a garden hose to the machine and make sure to use a wrench to tighten any nuts connecting the hose to the machine.
  8. Start slowly and use a side to side motion while using the machine to improve your surface. Go slowly long enough to make sure you are comfortable with the way the machine is working and you won’t cause damage to the surface.
  9. Start upward and work the machine downward on the surface you are working on. After that is done, rinse with water and make sure the surface looks great.
  10. You are done!
